Anesthesiologist Assistant Programs by State

AA Programs by StateThere are currently 12 anesthesia assistant programs in the United States located in 9 States.  These programs are all credited by the official Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).  In terms of geographic coverage of Anesthesiologist Assistant Programs by State, 58% of the anesthesia assistant programs are located in the South and 42% are in the Midwest, including Colorado.  There are no Anesthesiologist Assistant programs in the West Coast and none in the Northeast of the US.

In short, you will be spending two years at the Anesthesia Assistant school you attend and in clinicals so it’s important that you’re happy which state you are living.  In addition, it makes sense that you’ll have a greater chance of getting an Anesthesia Assistant job in the hospitals within the same state after graduation.  To clarify, this is because the local State hospitals are more familiar with the training and curriculum that is being taught locally.
