Nova AA Program

Nova AA ProgramThe Nova AA Program, located in the State of Florida has 3 university campuses that offer a Master of Science in Anesthesia Program.  We list out the campuses and date of establishment below:

  • Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale (established in 2005)
  • The Nova Southeastern University in Tampa (established in 2009)
  • Nova Southeastern University in Jacksonville is the newest Nova program and was just established in 2019

Although Nova is not in the same tier in terms of reputation & prestige as Emory, Indiana University and MCW, the Nova AA program offers a strong regional clinical program.  In general, insider suggest students applying to AA Programs to avoid newer schools.  However, that generalization does not apply to Nova Jacksonville because the school is part of the same network as Nova Fort Lauderdale.  Also, one of the advantages of the Nova AA Program in Tampa is that the campus is brand after receiving a US$225 million investment from a well-known alumni endowment foundation in 2017.

The Nova Anesthesiologist Assistant program is 27 months in length and begins in May of each year.  Strangely, the Nova Anesthesiologist Assistant Program does not publicize the acceptance rate, tuition and class sizes.  Insiders say the Nova AA Program class size is approximately 100 students (40 students at the Fort Lauderdale campus / 30 students at Tampa and 30 students at Jacksonville).  In short, tuition is estimated between US$100,000 to US$115,000 depending on the location.  Furthermore, there are no official acceptance rate statistics, but insiders say Nova is easier to get into than other AA programs.  With the class size of 100 students, we estimate that Nova Anesthesiologist Assistant acceptance rate should be between 25-40%.  To clarify, getting accepted into Nova may be up to 5 times easier than being accepted into MCW!
