CRNA Schools by Cost

Going to CRNA school is a big commitment financially and for many people it will be one of the biggest investments they make in their entire lives outside of purchasing their first house.  Some CRNA students plan their costs ahead of time and save plenty of money working as a RN while others graduate from CRNA school full of student loans. It is important to plan your CRNA School expenses wisely as it is always easier to spend money than to save it. In this article, I will discuss the Nurse Anesthetist School Cost and lay out all the CRNA schools by cost.

CRNA School Application Costs

The first cost for applying to CRNA schools is the application fee.  The average CRNA School application fee is US$61 and the median CRNA school application fee is US$60.  The highest CRNA school application fee is US$160 (U of Southern Mississippi), US$145 (University of Tennessee at Memphis) and US$140 (University of Cincinnati CRNA).  52 school charge application fees at $50 or less.  This is a range that a CRNA applicants can expect applying for schools.  We recommend students apply for between 5 to 10 schools of their choice, so this can cost up to US$600 depending on the number of CRNA schools you apply.

The second major cost is sending university transcripts. In addition, you’ll need to send a school transcript to every CRNA school you are applying.  These cost about US$10 per transcript, so total will be $100 assuming you apply to 10 schools.

The last and highest CRNA school application cost will be the interview expenses.  All CRNA schools require at least one in person interview.  Your interview expenses may include flight, car or hotel expenses so it could really add up quickly depending on how many schools you receive interviews.  All in all, it’s great news to receive a CRNA school interview, so it is important to budget these costs properly.  Remember to prepare yourself financially and save enough cash ahead of time for these ad hoc expenses which add up quickly.

After you are accepted in the CRNA school of your choice, you will likely have to leave a reservation fee.  In other words, this is considered as a deposit to guarantee your spot in the upcoming class.  The average CRNA reservation fee is US$1,358.  Your CRNA tuition bill will later deduct this deposit for your next payment.

Nurse Anesthetist School Cost

In short, CRNA and Nurse Anesthetist School cost is high.

The average In-State Nurse Anesthetist School Cost is US$93,065 and the median In-State Nurse Anesthetist School Cost is US$89,616.  The highest In-State Nurse Anesthetist School Cost is US$211,633 (UPenn CRNA).  The lowest In-State Nurse Anesthetist School Cost is US$26,666 (USM CRNA Program). That is to say, this is a range that a CRNA applicants can expect applying for CRNA Schools In-State.

In general, the Out-of-State CRNA program cost is approximately 15-20 percent higher than the In-State CRNA program cost.  The average Out-of-State Nurse Anesthetist School Cost is US$109,401 and the median Out-of-State Nurse Anesthetist School Cost is US$104,572.  The highest Out-of-State Nurse Anesthetist School Cost is US$211,633 (UPenn CRNA).  The lowest Out-of-State Nurse Anesthetist School Cost is US$31,898 (USM CRNA Program). This is a range that a CRNA applicants can expect applying for schools Out-of-State.  To clarify, private CRNA schools only charge a set standard fee.  They do not charge in-state or out-of-state tuition.

All nurse anesthetist school costs above include additional expenses such as nursing textbooks, supplies, health fees, technology fees, graduate student fees, etc that vary school by school.  However, the costs exclude housing expenses, health insurance and transportation which will vary by CRNA student.  Above all, remember it now takes 3 anesthesia school years to graduate with a CRNA degree.
