#61 Best CRNA Schools – UPMC CRNA

I chose Hamot when I was already accepted in a master’s program, because Hamot was more hands on and was more valuable to me because of the skills that I needed. Hamot, at the time was a BS program and I was the only one that year with a BS degree in nursing. I don’t know about the other schools, but I do know that Hamot provided a lot of one on one teaching, and when I graduated, I was well prepared. I am now 73 years old and my skills have never been questioned. I’m still working. Two years ago I was working an average of 80 hours per week, and although these hours did not hinder me in any way, I chose to work only 30-40 hours per week to give me more time for other things.
UPMC Hamot – Great cardiac experience but poor regional experience and [name of MD remove for privacy] is toxic. For more information on all CRNA schools, check out Best CRNA Schools and CRNA School Rankings.

UPMC Hamot CRNA Program Course Load
The Gannon University MSN degree program is based on an integrated course load. In other words, an integrated CRNA degree is one where clinical experience begins in the first year with both clinical hours and classroom lectures throughout the program length. On the other hand, this is different than a front loaded CRNA degree where the first year is considered mainly academic with classroom education while the remaining years are focused on clinical rotations. In general, there is no right or wrong method of teaching – roughly 33% of schools have integrated course loads in the first year and 67% are front loaded. Therefore, the trend of more clinical hours in the first year has been increasing in recent years as CRNA schools realize the importance of practical experience and knowledge sooner rather than later.UPMC Hamot at Gannon University CRNA Program Class Size
